Can I use my cell phone in Costa Rica ?

Yes you can use your cell phone in Costa Rica if it is a “SMART PHONE”.   The way it works is this:

AT THE SAN JOSE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT—- After you  recover your suitcase and proceed thru customs-  immediately start looking for a booth which is labeled ICE Kolby.  Here you can purchase a SIM CARD and put as many minutes on it as you want.  YOUR CELL PHONE MUST BE UNLOCKED

Also in the departure gate area is another booth by the same name where you can do the same thing. It is near area # 6
